Before “AI” became synonymous with “agents,” there were more modest AI projects with functional use cases. herb One of DePIN's projects was on Solana.

The idea of Grass Lift: Big tech is bad because they collect your online data for their profits, and Grass is good because you can now use it to rev up idle internet bandwidth to sell that access.

Instead of buying it from big tech companies, AI companies (or companies that find it useful to track media sentiment) that want your text data can now buy it from you through Grass as an intermediary.

The grass exploded in mid-2024, growing to more than 2 million+ Active nodes in less than a year. These nodes get rid of them 90 TB of data per day (about 445 times less than Google), which is then sold to AI companies.

The GRASS token went live in October, with several major CEX listings and a 380% rally since then.

This is impressive considering that most tokens are only seeing a downward trend on TGE. This is particularly impressive given that GRASS farmers do not suffer from an opportunity cost, i.e. leveraged capital. The less expensive it is to farm something, the greater the tendency to aggressively discard the token, but this was not the case for Grass.

based on @deveemoreGrass generates approximately $33 million in annual revenue, which it plans to eventually share with node operators and GRASS shareholders.

At a market cap of $702 million today, that gives GRASS a multiple of 21.3x MC/F. If one believes that Grass can continue to expand as it has in 2024, this indicates a very attractive token valuation compared to other fee-generating DePIN protocols, such as Helium or Akash, which commerce At a much higher 265-334x MC/F multiplier.

In the first quarter of 2025, Grass plans to offer the ability to better capture real-time data through “live context retrieval” technology, enabling more performant and specific AI models based on time-sensitive information such as market trading.
