What is Grepheme 1.0? The “ultra-fast” engine that powers Galxe’s Gravity Blockchain technology

like blockchain Networks grow and serve more users, and their scale—measured by the volume of transactions and participants—can both solve and create challenges.

Blockchains run software that automates agreements, e.g Smart contractsoften face significant challenges, especially those with active and large user bases. Too many users trying to do things at once, and the Ethereum virtual machine (EVM) At its core, it cannot simply make all the transactions the ecosystem wants in quick succession, one after the other. Limited space on the blockchain can also lead to increased competition for inclusion in blocks, resulting in higher transaction fees during times of heavy usage.

If there's one thing that prevents a growing platform from keeping its users happy, it's slow and expensive transactions on its apps. Web3 distribution platform mistakeone of the world's busiest cryptocurrency platforms with over 31 million users, sought to address these common issues when designing its blockchain, attractiveness.

In August 2024Gravity introduced Layer 1 Blockchain technology with the launch of its alpha mainnet: a Proof of stake (PoS) blockchain and smart contract platform, specifically designed to meet the needs of Galxe's 31 million community user base.

What is Grepheme 1.0?

Grevm 1.0 is an open source, parallel runtime for the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and is the “technological core” of Gravity, making it easier Nearly 800,000 daily transactions It runs on the Galxe ecosystem. It's based on Rheumatism,EVM is written in the Rust programming language.

What makes parallel EVMs different from traditional EVMs is that they provide a way to run multiple transactions or smart contract operations simultaneously, rather than sequentially, which can help avoid performance bottlenecks during periods of extremely high demand.

How does grivem work?

Grevm uses an algorithm inspired by BlockSTMa type of parallel execution engine, to run its smart contracts. It was BlockSTM Combined By a team of researchers from Aptos, Mystem Labs, UCL, Chainlink Labs and MIT in 2022. BlockSTM is inspired by the academic approach in computer science known as Software transaction memory (STM).

The Galxe team improved BlockSTM using data from its simulation results. Grevm also uses asynchronous I/O in its algorithm, a design feature that enables programs to do other tasks while waiting for the I/O tasks to finish, rather than stopping and waiting.

According to Galxe, incorporating asynchronous I/O, a feature not found in the vanilla version of BlockSTM, allows it to perform better in many conditions, such as having high latency.

What distinguishes Griffem?

Galxe benchmarking indicates that Grevm is the fastest open source parallel EVM implementation to date.

For fully parallelizable transactions, Galxe claims that Grevm can be 4.13x faster than a sequential execution, running at up to 26.50 GB/s. When Galxe simulated a 100 microsecond high latency environment, it was found to run 50.84 times faster than a sequential execution, with a throughput of 6.80 GB/s.

This jump in performance is due to both the use of parallel execution and the integration of asynchronous I/O operations - enabled by parallelism - which increases speedup by efficiently interleaving I/O operations.

In practice, Galex explained, Grevm's ability to handle computations in parallel will "go up." Decentralized finance Protocols and com. dapps It runs on the Gravity network, allowing it to execute multiple transactions in parallel, reducing latency and enhancing throughput.

Who builds on Grevm and Gravity?

  • Galaxy Quest It is a platform for building and engaging Web3 communities. Using a no-code solution, it allows many projects to create rewards-based loyalty programs. Optimism, arbitration, rule and Over 6,500 other Web3 projects Use it to provide users with free gifts like loyalty points and complementary NFTs.
  • Galaxy passport It is a digital identity product that allows users to securely store their identity information and use it across hundreds of supported applications.
  • Galaxy points It evaluates users based on their on-chain activities, their participation in the project, and their overall participation in the Web3 community, providing a comprehensive view of their presence and reputation.
  • Solidarity A cross-chain automated market maker (AMM) company, the decentralized exchange has integrated Gravity into its platform, allowing users to link assets between Gravity and over 35 blockchain networks.

What is Gravity's G code?

The blockchain uses Gravity G as its native utility token, after a Symbolic migration From GAL in July. G is used to pay gas fees on the network and to make payments on apps like Galxe Quest, Galxe Passport, and Galxe Score. G also gives users a variety of opportunities to participate in defining the future of the Gravity Network.

Users can share their tokens to secure the network and participate in future governance decisions, determining the future of the blockchain.

Where can you buy Gravity's G token?

G can be purchased via major exchanges such as binance, OK x, Obitand Q Queen. They are also traded on decentralized exchanges (Direct implementation) like com.uniswap.

On Binance, you can buy G directly using USD; Other exchanges offer trading pairs with Tether (USDT), US Dollar (USDC) currency, Wrapped BNB (WBNB)or Encapsulated Ethereum (WETH).

What does the future hold for Grevem?

Grevm's successor, Grevm 2.0, is scheduled to be released in early Q1 2025. The second iteration of Grevm will focus on improving parallel transaction processing to increase efficiency and accuracy. As testing and improvements continue, Galxe expects that Grevm 2.0 will enable faster and more scalable solutions within the Gravity ecosystem.

Grevm 2.0 will offer fully asynchronous I/O as well as “fine-grained” synchronization at the transaction level, allowing related transactions to run in parallel once their dependencies are resolved.
