More than 15 X accounts were recently hacked, with hackers launching the Solana meme scam and taking an estimated $500,000.

A threat actor targets Solana (Sol) Meme investors and X-pages have made nearly half a million dollars promoting scam codes via hacked social media pages, blockchain company ZachXBT revealed on December 24.

Popular accounts like Brett (Brett), Kick Streaming, and Alex Blania were all of them breach. In each case, the hijacked page would advertise a new coin, share the contract address, and invite unsuspecting victims to invest SOL.

ZachXBT has it spotted More than 15 incidents since November 26, all resulting from a focused effort by an unknown bad actor.

How did X hackers gain access?

ZachXBT's investigation showed that scammers used scare tactics to steal passwords and other credentials. The hacker will imitate X's support agents, claiming that users have violated their terms of use and copyright policies.

X has become a global town square since Elon Musk bought the company formerly known as Twitter. The vision of freedom of expression and creator payments has spurred more projects to build brands on the social network.

Hackers took advantage of X's popularity to bombard users with phishing links, exploiting the sense of urgency that creators often experience when faced with the prospect of losing their social media accounts. ZachXBT advised the public to "limit email address reuse between services" as well as use "security keys for two-factor authentication on important accounts" to enhance personal cyber safety.
