As Bitcoin (BTC), the largest cryptocurrency, makes another attempt to conquer the $100,000 level, dozens of altcoins are losing value. Popular cryptocurrencies are on the list of worst performing currencies, however some new cryptocurrencies have entered the field in the top 100.

The meme cryptocurrency sector has lost more than $100 million in capital value in the past 24 hours. While the market index fell by 0.4%, the meme's cap fell by more than 1.1% today, January 6, 2024.
In the list of the 10 worst performing cryptocurrencies in the top 100, there are two meme coins: Solana's largest coin, Dogwifhat (WIF) and multi-block meme coin Bonk (BONK). Dogwifat (WIF) has lost 2,8% in the last 24 hours and is struggling to maintain the 75th position at the top of the rankings.
Bonk (BONK) is down 2.1%, and its price is ready to lose the sensitive level of $0.000034. Meanwhile, on the weekly time frame, both currencies are in the green zone.
In the second 100th of the list of largest cryptocurrencies, Peanut the Squirrel (PNUT) erased 3% of its market cap tonight. The asset is trading at $0.7405 on major spot exchanges.

Meanwhile, some smaller cryptocurrencies are showing impressive growth rates. SPX6900 (SPX), one of Murad's largest cryptocurrencies, jumped into the top 100 cryptocurrencies list with a 20% increase in market cap.
Also, ai16z (AI16Z), an AI-based DAO meme coin, rose 21% and reached a new local high of over $2.12.
Prominent trader Henrik Zeberg is optimistic about the growth potential of meme coins in the medium term. He is sure that the main meme currencies, incl Dujoyfat (WIF)is still in the consolidation stage:
