Ethereum L2s will be standardized in 2025 thanks to this upgrade

In 2025, the Ethereum (ETH) L2s ecosystem may finally solve all the problems of cross-network interoperability and siled liquidity. As an Ethereum (ETH) enthusiast who goes by the name @FigoETH explains, the ERC-7683 “Cross Chain Intents” will be a game changer.

ERC-7683 makes Ethereum borderless, introducing intents and payouts

ERC-7683, the latest cross-chain standard for the Ethereum (ETH) ecosystem, is set to make the L2s user experience 10 times better. This, in turn, will make Ethereum's L2s more attractive to new generations of developers, says @FigoETH on X.

ERC-7683 will finally make Ethereum's L2 modules interoperable, including Polygon, Optimism, Arbitrum, and all upcoming versions. Blockchain users will be able to transfer Arbitrum's NFTs to Optimism and swap tokens from Polygon to Base.

With the implementation of ERC-7683, users will be able to create “stuffing networks,” interoperable spaces designed to standardize the expression of intent — such as token swaps, NFT transfers, and governance votes — across EVM chains.

Stuffing network operators will compete to achieve cross-chain intent with improved efficiency and lower costs. These unified infill networks will facilitate interoperability, removing the burden from developers and abstracting the complexities of cross-chain transactions from user experiences.

Thus, ERC-7683 will create a unified framework for cross-blockchain interactions on EVM since all operations will be routine.

Towards cross-chain applications and unified governance

As stated in the detailed explanation mailERC-7683 will allow decentralized applications to simplify management across multiple chains.

For example, a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) can easily manage governance proposals across different Layer 2 networks and sidenets, giving its community broader access to voting processes in a resource-optimizing manner.

ERC-7683 enables decentralized applications to leverage different chains for specialized functions. This paves the way for DeFi applications that manage transactions on Optimism (OP) for speed while securing assets on Ethereum (ETH) for maximum security, seamlessly connecting both networks without any additional steps.
