Oklahoma State Senator Introduces Bill to Legalize Bitcoin Payments


Republican Senator Dusty Devers has introduced a bill aimed at integrating Bitcoin into Oklahoma's economy.

Bitcoin Freedom Act SB325 seeks to give employees and vendors in the state the option to transact in bitcoin, providing an alternative to the inflation-plagued U.S. dollar, according to the senator.

“At a time when inflation is eroding the purchasing power of hard-working Oklahomans, Bitcoin provides a unique opportunity to protect profits and investments,” Devers said in his report. statement Wednesday.

If approved, the framework will secure the use of Bitcoin across government agencies, private institutions and individual transactions while ensuring compliance with existing regulations.

Devers crafted the bill as a step toward fostering innovation, increasing financial transparency and driving economic growth in the state.

The politician also pointed to Bitcoin's decentralized nature and fixed supply as safeguards against what he described as "reckless spending and money printing in Washington, D.C."
